Back to school, BackPack Drive 2019
Time & Location
About The Event
Did you know 1 our of every 4 Bay Area children lives below the federal poverty line? By the 3rd grade, these students are, on average, already two years behind their peers in reading and math.
When children start their academic careers with a large deficit, their ability to succeed in school diminishes. All too often they fall further and further behind their peers especially in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) subjects.
Low-income families with limited funds are frequently unable to purchase books and school supplies --- all tools necessary for success. Touch A Soul helps these children build a path out of poverty through education. With your support, we provide Bay Area children with new backpacks filled with the school supplies and to empower them with a better future.
For most children, the first day of school is full of excitement. Unfortunately, for many children that excitement is often overshadowed by worry and embarrassment about being unable to purchase school supplies. The Backpack and School Supply Drive will help prepare our community's underprivileged children for the first day of school. The donations will give these children a brand new backpack filled with a variety of new school supplies for the first day of school. Unfortunately, many children are living below the poverty line. For these children, the excitement of the first day of school is often overshadowed because they are unable to go to school fully prepared to learn with the proper school supplies.
"The back to school drive is a tangible way to help children whose families are struggling to meet the daily needs, begin their school year with confidence. Students have a sense of excitement knowing they have what they need to be successful.
With the help of the Annual Backpack and School Supply Drive, hundreds of children will start a new school year with pride.
